Arty Facts

[Repeated from Sunday 1.30pm.] Arty Facts with Master J is a show about working in the arts. Today: Master J is joined by musical theatre actor Karen Holmes and The Viagra Fools lead singer Steve e Blunder. We eavesdrop on the very first, slightly wobbly rehearsals of Steve on guitar and Karen on vocals, after Master J handed them a stack of songs for the 2021 musical, It’s a Boy. These recordings capture the songs’ first ever attempts at being played live, complete with missed cues and wrong chords, with each rehearsal clip immediately followed by the studio recording Karen laid down straight afterwards. We begin with the final song of the session, Carrying the One, and finish at the beginning with Welcome to the Show. Somewhere in the middle is Kill Them All. If you enjoy watching painters wash their brushes or jockeys grooming their horses, then this is a show you might tolerate. For more information visit Master J on Facebook.
