Modulisme
[Repeated from Friday 11.30pm.] Modulisme (which translates as Modularism) is a series devoted to out of leftfield modular synthesis. Today: France Jobin is a sound/installation artist, composer and curator residing in Montreal, Canada. Her audio art “sound-sculpture” reveals a minimalist approach to complex sound environments where analogue and digital intersect. Her installations express a parallel path, incorporating both musical and visual elements inspired by the architecture of physical spaces. In November 2019 and March 2024 she presented modular concerts at the Ernst Krenek Institute in Austria and we are proud to present those recordings on the legendary vintage Buchla 100 system. Late Lunch with Out to Lunch
[Repeated from Wednesday 2pm.] Polemic, politics, mouth jazz and spontaneous music with Ben Watson. Today: Ben launches a new season by inviting in improvisors to respond to sounds he's collected over the Easter break, including elephants responding to a didjeridoo in Albuquerque, lawn-mowers in Somers Town, his own Splash ’n' Klang and mouthnoise manipulated in various ways. Flautist Barbara Mukoda is known for her work with the Lo-Fi Collective and the Videogame Orchestra, and knock-out appearances at ImproVox at the Bridewell Theatre Bar. Peter Baxter is drummer with AMM All-Stars, the Late Lunch house band, and here plays tabletop percussion. Out To Lunch plays acoustic guitar and piano. As usual, the attention is on sound and intuitive response, eschewing formal correctness for real-time testimony and expression.

Each programme emanates from our experience of the local, creating a portal into sonic possible worlds. This month's show revisits our exploration of the sonic possible world that is Riverside House, the site of a former iron works in Stourbridge in the Black Country, featuring Lloyd Stacey and the Riverside Team and Volunteers, with local artists Helen Garbett and Bill Laybourne.
