Fieldnotes
Broadcasts by the artist-run publishing project based in Newham, London. Today's episode brings together recordings collected at Hop Kingdom, London’s smallest indoor skatepark tucked away in two railway arches near London Bridge Station. Founded in 2018 by Ben Hopkinson as an anti-dote to 'skate snobs', Monday beginners nights are just one of the ways Hop makes skating accessible and less intimidating for newcomers. For many, this night has become an immovable fixture in the dairy, a grounding welcome to each new week. As one Monday regular describes: “It's a place where the community comes first—and it's a whole lot more fun that way". With skateboards clattering, metal clanging, and trains rumbling overhead, the soundscape emerges as a warm rhythm that captures the energy of the community. Visit fieldnotes.site and follow @hop_kingdom on Instagram for more information. [Repeats Thursday 3pm.]
