We'll hear the extended work 'Entrainments 2', a stream of conscious work for voice, tape and parabolic mircophone composed for and performed among the Cuyamaca Mountains of California, 19 May 1985. We'll also hear tracks from Chandra Shukla's recent 'Äkäsh' album on Ash International and Nichola Scruton's 'Interzone', released last year on Nonclassical. To coincide with its release on Bandcamp in December we preview ESS<>GEE's first album, Airborne, a collaboration between artists Simon Bradley and Griet Bayaert. Combining Simon and Griet's voices with excerpts from the album and field recordings made in Yorkshire last week, we find out about their creative process and why free improvisation is a political act.

Lucky Cat's Sound System Stories. An oral history of UK Reggae sound system culture, produced and presented by Zoë Baxter. This week: Tiny T, The Mighty Cloudburst, has been passionate about music since childhood. His father, Freddy Cloudburst co-founded the Freddy Cloudburst sound system in South London and helped nurture Jah Shaka in the '60s before moving to Miami in the 1980s, passing the musical legacy to Tiny T. Tiny has spotlighted overlooked Ska and Rocksteady tracks and is a respected DJ, representing Jamaican music in Japan, Mexico, and Europe. Recently, he launched 'Tiny T’s Top Ten,' a live stream record-selling show, and has collaborated on sound system heritage projects. Tiny boasts several DJ clash trophies, including King of Kings Revival Soundclash in Hamburg (2011) and the 2019 Maratone Vintage Jamaican Music Cup Clash in Berlin. [Repeats Wednesday 9am.]
