The Music Easel appeared in 1973, so Buchla celebrated both a diamond and golden jubilee in 2023. Late Lunch with Out to Lunch
[Repeated from Wednesday 2pm.] Polemic, politics, mouth jazz and spontaneous music with Ben Watson. This week, Ben presents music recorded the previous Friday at the Betsey Trotwood in Clerkenwell, London. Multi-instrumentalist Paul Moss (vocals, keys, clarinet, recorders) applies his experience of playing "background jazz" in hotel lobbies and restaurants. The show begins with Out To Lunch reciting the words to Paul Moss's song "For Bongo Mike", which the band then accompany, and Moss sings a verse. OTL plays a lot of untuned guitar. Robert "Sugarlips" Goldsmith brought marimba and baritone sax to the Betsey on his bike trailer. With Dave Black on electric guitar and Peter Baxter on percussion, a strange kind of pan-African/skiffle/harmolodic/punk groove results. Halfway through, a xenochronic track by OTL called "Hardcore Amass" spikes the proceedings.
