Triangulation

Triangulation by Colin Black. From the sounds of the Arctic circle to the Australian desert and the many acoustic ecologies found between these points, Colin Black explores what he calls “sonic trigonometry,” which aims to challenge our concepts relating to the angles and distances between the chosen sound sites and elements. The goal is to evoke a type of geospatial perspective that investigates a re-contextualisation of place as not being fixed but rather in constant flux that regularly needs to be retriangulated. The goal of this “sonic trigonometry” is to transmute the notion of the insulated local ecology, so as to reconceptualise the local as a dynamic integral element that is intimately and ultimately connected to other global environments.
