This week: heartbreak and misery set to a soundtrack of syncopation as Hot Club Du Monde revisits an old tradition in the form of a special anti-Valentine’s day episode. Featuring rhythmic dirges from Tampa Red, James P. Johnson and the Original Yellow Jackets as well as a tune recorded the day before seven members of Bugs Moran’s North Side Gang were gunned down in Chicago garage in what would become known as the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre.

These programmes were considered to be lost but due to the tenacity of Dan Wilson and James Dunn, they have been retrieved from the archives. I’m now pleased to be able to repeat the 'Weavelength' episodes over coming weeks, all of which feature audio cassettes. The first guest is Adam Bohman who gives energetic live readings from his spoken word texts, culminating in a performance with Weaver, discussing gathering words for his text pieces from “official documents and menus” and other sources.
