Six Volumes: Sounds Of The Folk Archive
[Repeated from Monday 11.30am.] Live sound pieces by Royal College of Art MA Writing students, made in response to the English Folk Dance and Song Society’s archival collection. Episode 2: Finding Nancy/Parliament of the Heath. Finding Nancy is a song-collecting journey, from London 2026 to Rye 1987, in search of the queer in folksong. Production: Katya Hudson, Mai Harris & Nye Conant. Sound: Georg du Boulay & Katya Hudson. Research: Alex Haydn-Williams. Written in Rye by Alex, Georg, Katya, Mai & Nye. Voiced by Mai Harris, with songs from Nye Conant, garden birds and the EFDSS archive. The sonic essay, Parliament of the Heath, invites listeners on a walk through Hampstead Heath as lost knowledge of birdsong is recognised, mourned, recollected and reclaimed.
