New Works For Radio

“6AM Eternal” by Ruth Hughes, a recent BA graduate of LCC's Sound Arts and Design, is a hybrid, post-rave DJ mix using dub-plates cut with field recordings taken by the artist at free parties around London 2017-19. As an improvised composition of sounds, the performance allows for a deconstruction of the sonic narrative of contemporary rave culture, utilising the physical properties of vinyl in a sculptural format. [Repeated Friday 3.30pm.]

Spool's Out Radio

Tristan Bath (of The Quietus) delves into music from the cassette tape underground. RXM Reality – the Chicago-based purveyor or wild synths and percussion stabs on Hausu Mountain's latest killer tape – takes the reins for over half of today's show. The guest mix is as erratic and brain-melting as you'd hope. Tristan picks the cassette tape entrée and dessert this week, including math-jazz from Carey and a first listen to experimental sound artist/composer Cyanching's stirring piece about the formation of her Taiwanese homeland. Visit spools-out.com for more information. [Repeated Tuesday 10am.]
