Hooting Yard: the Exhibition
celebrating Frank Key, 10 to 14 March 2020
Welcome to Hooting Yard: The Exhibition is at the Menier Gallery , 51 - 53 Southwark Street, London SE1 1RU in March. Join us for a retrospective of the work of the late writer, blogger, illustrator and Resonance FM broadcaster Frank Key. Variously described as ‘one of the most prolific living writers of literary nonsense’ and ‘a small-press god’, Frank wrote thousands of stories, poems and wry observations about life over the course of nearly 40 years, illustrating many of them in a pen-and-ink style full of immense character. Most were set in and around Hooting Yard, a fictitious location whose borders shifted regularly with the bounds of his imagination. This celebratory overview of Frank Key’s art, the first dedicated exhibition of his work, includes original illustrations, rare books, out-of-print pamphlets and one-off art objects, collaborations with other artists and audio recordings from Resonance FM's long-running Hooting Yard on the Air. For more information, visit hootingyard.org.
The exhibition runs from 10 March to 14 March 2020, 10am to 6pm (4pm on Saturday 14 March). Private View introduced by Resonance FM's Ed Baxter: 10 March, 6pm to 9pm.
